Prioritizing Self Care 101

You’ve probably heard a lot about “self-care” recently. It seems like everyone is talking about it, but a lot of us are wondering what it really means. That’s why we created this cheat-sheet to help you handle self-care like a boss.

Treat yourself with love

Self-care is not just about bubble baths and chocolate. Yes, it’s important to give yourself little treats! But self-care is about more than pampering. It means taking care of yourself so that you can truly shine.

Self-care means giving yourself the attention, compassion, time, and energy that you need in order to thrive. So slow down, and do the things that bring meaning to your life.

Spend time connecting with friends and family. Cook a good meal. Listen to music that moves you. Plant a garden (even if it’s just on your windowsill). It’s all about finding joy in the small moments.

Be your best self

Self-care is not selfish. Taking care of your own needs will set you up to be strong, healthy, and happy. Those are the qualities you need in order to thrive and to help those around you.

Prioritize getting enough sleep. Make time for regular exercise, and stick to a healthy diet. Self-care means taking charge of your health – so that you can be your very best self, every day.

Make goals

Self-care also means planning ahead so that you can live up to your highest potential. We recommend creating short term and long term goals for yourself, and tracking those goals every day.

You can create a daily checklist with spots for work, exercise, and family responsibilities. And you can create weekly and monthly checklists so that you stay on track with your long-term plans. Above all, self-care means taking the steps necessary so that you flourish like a boss.
